Foster's Group

Foster 's Group is an Australian beverage company, which operates in the fields of brewery, spirits and soft drinks.

This company acts as Foster's Group Limited, listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, the Australian Securities Exchange and is headquartered in Melbourne. The Group is well known for its beer brand Foster's Lager, which is brewed under license in Europe, North America and Asia.

History

1886 sailed the Irish brothers William M. Foster and Ralph R. Foster from New York to Melbourne and founded two years later a brewery on the Rokeby Street, Collingwood. In November 1888, she began to brew the first beer and taste for the first time publicly on February 1, 1889. Just a few months later they sold the brewery to a local syndicate and returned to the United States.

The new owners of Hart, Thomas and Turner left the company on November 13, 1889 under the name of Foster 's Brewing Co. Ltd.. entered in the commercial register in Melbourne. In August 1903, the Society of Melbourne Brewers was founded and the brewery whose member.

Cubs brewed Foster's Lager only reason further because they were forced by laws of the states of Queensland and Western Australia do so.

1983 Carlton & United Breweries acquired the Elders IXL, a major Australian company, and called Elders Brewing Group. In 1990, the company was then renamed to Foster's Group, according to the internationally known beer brand Foster's Lager. In 2005, the Foster 's Group Australian winemaker Southcorp and obtained the rights to the well-known brands Penfolds, Lindemans and Rosemount.

Breakdown

The end of May, 2010, Foster's announced that the Group would be split. For this purpose, the wine division " Foster 's Wine Estates " from the beer business, and should be listed as a separate company on the stock exchange.

Takeover by SABMiller

On September 21, 2011, SABMiller announced that it has reached an agreement with the Australian Foster 's Group on a takeover. SABMiller is now offering for a Foster's share 5.10 AUD. Thus, the market valuation of Foster 's is located at AUD 9.9 billion. The suspension of trading of Foster's Group Limited on the ASX was on Dec. 2 2011, which delisting on 20 Dez. 2011. Previously SABMiller had failed in August with a hostile takeover attempt.
