Region

Guidimouni is a rural municipality in the Department Damagaram Takaya in Niger.

Geography

Guidimouni lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Mazamni in the north, Damagaram Takaya in the northeast, Guidiguir the southeast, Gouchi in the south, southwest and Zermou Hamdara in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 43 administrative villages, 86 traditional villages, 61 hamlets, four bearings and two water points. The main town of the rural community is located on a small lake village administrative Guidimouni.

History

The village was, according to tradition settled in the 10th century by Kanuri from Bornu. The French colonial administration set up in the early 20th century, a canton in a Guidimouni. 1932 the canton of the area of the dissolved canton Mazamni was connected. In 2002, as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Guidimouni out the rural communities Goudimouni and Mazamni. Economy and infrastructure
