Home and Away is an Australian soap opera that airs on the Seven Network since 17 January 1988. With more than 5,000 episodes, it is the second most successful soap opera in Australia. In Australia, the series is very popular. On average, the series of 1.40 million viewers followed. In Germany, the series has not yet been broadcast.

Background

End of 1986, Alan Bateman was commissioned to create a pilot episode for a new soap opera, but it should be no copy of neighbors. Bateman found in Kangaroo Point, New South Wales an inspiration. He saw people who wanted to build a home for foster children, but the community was against it. This he took as the basis of his soap.

When the series began, Bateman is focused on Tom Fletcher and his wife, Pippa. They had four foster children, Frank Morgan, Carly Morris, Steven Matheson, Lyn Davenport, and an adopted daughter, Sally Fletcher. Bobby Simpson promoted it, much to the annoyance of Donald Fisher. They bought the caravan park with the locals, Ailsa Stewart, Alf Stewart, Neville and Floss McPhee a children's home.

Home and Away celebrated its 21 -year production with a celebration in Sydney on 23 July 2009. The mayor of Sydney's Pittwater Council presented the cast the key from the Palm Beach, the location of the series.
