Horné Orešany

Horne Orešany ( German Deutschnußdorf or Obernußdorf, Hungarian Felsődiós ) is a municipality in western Slovakia, with 1904 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trnava Region of a lower part of the Trnavský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the hills Trnavská pahorkatina ( part of the Danube 's hill country ) underneath the Little Carpathians west of the town, near the river Parna, which is stowed above the village in the reservoir Horne Orešany. The center is located at an altitude of 200 m nm and the highest point is Mount Suchy vrch with 535 m nm The city of Trnava located 16 kilometers south-east and the capital Bratislava 48 km south-west of Horne Orešany.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1296 as Dious writing was on the edge of a mountain pass through the Little Carpathians, through the so-called " Bohemian Road" was. In the 14th century German settlers from Lorraine and Rhineland were settled here; from this period are the vineyards of the community. According to this fact, the place was called in the 14th and 15th centuries in Latin villa Nucum theutonicalis and belonged to the manor of the nearby castle Smolenitz.

Here in 1547 settled the Anabaptists, the Hutterites a court established here, who was known by pottery. 1582 Deutschnußdorf received by King Rudolf II market rights and thus became the market town. 1828 are listed 189 houses and 1306 inhabitants. 1872 established the Gender Palffy a paint and varnish factory, the predecessor of the present company Chemolak. Nevertheless, Horne Orešany still remains an agricultural community, with a significant proportion of viticulture.

  • Roman Catholic late Baroque church from the years 1758-64, the tower dates only from the year 1859.
