Ivo Rüthemann

Ivo Rüthemann ( born December 12, 1976 in Mosnang ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who played, among others, from 1999 to 2014 at SC Bern in the National League A.

Career

Ivo Rüthemann began his career at the age of seven years when Schlittschuhclub Rhine Valley (SC Rhine Valley ), then moved in 1994 for 5 years for HC Davos, where he played his first NLA Season. Since the 1999/2000 season he played for SC Bern, with whom he was in 2004, 2010 and 2013 Swiss Champion. His contract at SC Bern runs until the end of Season 2013 / 14th

In 2004 Ivo Rüthemann became the Most Valuable Player (MVP), voted the best Swiss striker and the most underrated players in Switzerland.

On August 12, 2008, he reached another milestone in its successful career. Rüthemann inherited the office of the team captain of Martin Stein Egger, who left the SC Bern after many years of service to the 2008/ 09 season in direction Movers EHC Biel.

On March 5, 2013 Ivo Rüthemann completed his 1000th game in the NLA, during a playoff quarterfinal game in Geneva. This milestone had been reached only Gil Montandon, Martin Stein Egger and Ronnie Rueger. After the SC Bern had sensationally missed in the 2013/14 season as reigning champions the playoffs, Rüthemann presented in the relegation round with his 1072. NLA game set a new record. Then his shirt number 32 has been banned from Bern's city club and hung under the roof of the PostFinance Arena.

Internationally

For Switzerland Rüthemann took at junior level at the European Junior Championships in 1994, and the junior B World Cup 1995 and the Junior World Championship in 1996 in part. In the senior level, he played part of Switzerland in the A World Championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010.

Ivo Rüthemann denied on 24 April 2009 at the opening match between Switzerland and France in Bern at the Ice Hockey World Championships to be 220th international match for Switzerland and was thus the sole most capped player in the Swiss ice hockey, but was later surpassed by Mathias Seger.
