Jaslovské Bohunice

Jaslovské Bohunice is a municipality in Okres Trnava in Slovakia. It lies about 60 kilometers northeast of the capital Bratislava.

The municipality was created on 12 July 1958 by the merger of the municipalities Bohunice ( German Bohunitz ) and Jaslovce ( German Jasslowitz ). 1975 was also the place Radošovce ( which in its turn in 1974 the place Paderovce ( German Pagirowitz ) was connected) added, Radošovce but again since 1990, an independent municipality.

Jaslovské Bohunice is mainly known by the location in its vicinity Bohunice nuclear power plant. This produces approximately 40 percent of the Slovak electricity demand. Despite its great importance for the Slovak power and despite the capitalization modernizing the nuclear power plant to be shut down completely by 2015. The first unit was already shut down in late 2006. The European Union is supporting this process by approximately € 150 million.
