Jim Kolbe

Thomas James ( "Jim" ) Kolbe ( born June 28, 1942 in Evanston, Illinois) is an American politician. He is a member of the Republican and was from 1985 to 2007 Member of the House of Representatives of the United States.

Biography

After his schooling Kolbe studied at Northwestern University in Evanston and at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Thereafter, he served in the U.S. Navy, and to later worked for the Republican Governor Richard Ogilvie in Illinois. Kolbe was elected to the Senate from Arizona. In 1985 he succeeded the catchment as a delegate in the House of Representatives of the United States. In the coming parliamentary elections, he was re-elected as a deputy each. Kolbe was after Steven Gunderson, the second openly gay, Republican Member of the House of Representatives.

In November 2005, Kolbe announced not to reapply as a deputy. His seat in the House of Representatives won in the 2006 elections as the successor to the Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords.
