John Linder

John Elmer Linder ( born September 9, 1942 in Deer River, Itasca County, Minnesota) is an American politician. Between 1993 and 2011 he represented the state of Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Linder attended the common schools and then studied until 1964 at the University of Minnesota in Duluth. At the same university he studied until 1967 dentistry. He was subsequently 1967-1969 member of the U.S. Air Force. After his return to civilian life, he worked as a dentist. He also headed 1977-1992 a Loan. Politically, Linder joined the Republican Party. In the years 1976 to 1980, and again from 1982 to 1990 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Georgia. In 1990, he ran unsuccessfully for Congress yet.

In the congressional elections of 1992, but he was then in the fourth electoral district of Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Ben L. Jones on January 3, 1993. After eight re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2011 nine legislative sessions. For the elections of 2010, he opted not to run again; Rob Woodall, since 1994, his chief of staff, succeeded him.

During his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he represented until 1997, the Fourth District, then between 1997 and 2003 the eleventh and finally, since 2003, the seventh district of his state. This is also partly due to a restructuring and renaming of the electoral districts. Linder was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, and in three of its subcommittees. He campaigned on tax reform. Linder was regarded as rather conservative MP. He is married and lives privately in Duluth (Georgia ).
