Juazeiro do Norte is a Brazilian city in the dry state of Ceará Sertão in with a population of 246 515 (S 2008).

Juazeiro is located 528 km south of Fortaleza, the capital of the state. The town was originally a part of Crato, to the priest Padre Cícero (1844-1934) here unfolded his activities and was responsible for the independence. In his honor, there is every year in November a lively pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, the city is the second largest of the state and lives in particular by a strong trade.
