Kały, Opole Voivodeship

Podewils (Polish: Kały ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Podewils located in the municipality Murow in powiat Opolski in Polish Opole Voivodeship.

History

The village was created in 1772 and takes its name probably Count Otto Christoph von Podewils.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 351 voters voted to remain in Germany and no one for Poland. Podewils remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 484 inhabitants in the village. 1939, the place had 480 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Opole.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration, was renamed Kały and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. 1950 Kały part of the Opole Voivodeship and 1999 of the re-established powiat Opolski. In March 2009, the City also received the official German place names Podewils.
