Kameshkovo, Vladimir Oblast

Kameschkowo (Russian Камешково ) is a town in Vladimir Oblast (Russia) with 13.103 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the Klyazma - Nerl valley about 40 km northeast of Oblasthauptstadt Vladimir left the Klyazma, a left tributary of the opening into the Volga Oka.

Kameschkowo is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

History

Kameschkowo was created in 1892 as a workers' settlement in connection with the establishment of a weaving.

On 12 June 1951, the city charter was granted.

Culture and sights

Around the city there are several architectural monuments of the 17th and 19th centuries, including the Church of the Resurrection ( Воскресенская церковь / Woskressenskaja Tserkov ) of 1794 in the village Woskressenskoje, the Church of the Icon of the Georgian Mother of God ( церковь Грузинской Богоматери / Tserkov Grusinskoi Bogomateri ) of 1812 in the village Gaticha and the Holy Trinity Church ( Троицкая церковь / Troitskaya Tserkov ) of 1801 in the village of Gorki.

Economy and infrastructure

Largest companies in the city is the textile factory, which produces cotton fabrics, gauze and cotton wool. There is also an electrical factory and enterprises of the food industry.

The town lies on the railway line opened in 1862 Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod ( kilometer 235 ), on which today runs a lot of the features of the Trans-Siberian railway on its western part from Moscow.
