Raduzhny, Vladimir Oblast

Raduschny (Russian Радужный ) is a town in Vladimir Oblast (Russia) with 18 211 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located about 12 km south of Oblasthauptstadt Vladimir on several river (Pol, Buscha and Uschbol ) near its confluence with the Klyazma in the river system of the Volga.

Raduschny is the Oblast administratively subordinated directly and belongs to the " closed cities" of Russia. The city is therefore surrounded by a wall and fence. Access you get as a local stranger only with a special pass. The access road is provided with a turnpike and the military guards checked all oncoming people.

History

The town was founded in 1971 on a military base as a housing estate for employees of the secret design office " Raduga " for laser weapons. As a founding valid February 25, 1971.

1977 was the residential area under the cover name Vladimir -30 the status of an urban-type settlement and 1991 under the present name of the town right (adjective form of the name of the design office Raduga, Russian for Rainbow).

Since 1993 the design office is officially called State scientific-technical laser Experimental Center of the Russian Federation " Raduga ".

Economy and infrastructure

City development it incurred are to the military construction office operations, which today also manufacture civilian products. There are also companies in the construction industry. The city has a hospital, several schools and a swimming pool.
