Kamov Ka-226

The Kamov Ka -226 Sergei (Russian: Сергей Камов Ка -226 ) is a lightweight multi-purpose civilian helicopter, which is manufactured since 1997 in Russia by the company Kamov.

History

Announced in 1990, Ka -226 was designed to replace the aging fleet of Kamov Ka -26 predecessor version, which will be powered by piston engines. The new model has, however, 2 modern turbines Allison. The need for such a universal helicopters is high in Russia, for example, for maintenance of energy supply infrastructure, Civil Protection, aerial surveillance or serving remote settlements in Siberia.

The helicopter had its first flight on September 4, 1997 and received on 31 October 2003 his Russian approval. Since 2009, the version Ka - 226T with more powerful Turbomeca Arrius 2G1 is in testing. This is expected to reach a peak altitude of 7500 m and a speed of 230 km / hr. The serial production will start in 2011.

Construction

The helicopter has as its predecessors over the typical Kamov coaxial rotor. From the 26er model he inherited also the principle of the modular structure in which the passenger cabin can be removed behind the cockpit as a whole. Instead module containers can be fitted with medical equipment or containers for agrochemicals with sprayer for agricultural use. Without each module, but instead provided with a winch, the Ka -226 is also used for the transport of external loads.
