Kamov Ka-15

The Kamov Ka -15 (Russian Камов Ка -15, NATO reporting name: Hen, German: hen / chicken) is a two-seat multi-purpose helicopter of the Soviet helicopter manufacturer Kamov. It first flew in 1953 and was for many years in the civilian and military use.

The Ka -15 was the first type Kamows, which went into series production. The designer Nikolay Ilyich Kamov filled with his concept of Koaxialrotors without tail rotor with the requirements of the Soviet Navy for low space requirement and good maneuverability.

Like its predecessor, Ka -10 Ka -15 had the two rudder. However, they offered a much larger payload and a weather-resistant, closed hull. The front wheels of the landing gear were steerable. The Ka -15 was powered by a radial engine.

From the Navy's Ka -15 was used for anti-submarine warfare. There were also built different civilian versions. There was Ka -15 rescue helicopter, as an agricultural helicopter and with floats. The version of Ka -15M had rotors made ​​of composite materials and a more powerful engine with 205 kW/280 hp. The four-seat successor Ka -18 differed by a larger hull.
