Kamov Ka-18

The Kamov Ka -18 (Russian Камов Ка -18, NATO reporting name: " Hog " ) is a Soviet four-seater multi-purpose helicopter. It was developed by Russian Nikolai Ilyich Kamov coaxial rotor - pioneer from the two-seat Kamov Ka -15. The first flight of the Ka -18 took place on 13 October 1956.

From the Ka -15 coaxial rotor and the engine was unchanged. The cabin was extended to make room for four people. For the Ka -18 was given a new, tiered bow. The cockpit decreed by over radio, blind flight and navigation equipment in any weather, day and night can be used.

In addition, they had a de-icer. The chassis could be exchanged for inflatable pontoons with which you land on water or in the bottom and was able to start.

Used was the Ka -18 in various roles in Aeroflot, including the aerial survey, as air taxi, and as a medical helicopter. The Soviet naval aviation put also the Ka - 18.

Between 1959 and 1961 a total of 111 Ka -18 were built in Ulan- Ude at Kamov.
