K

The Kerenzerberg is a high plateau above Lake Walen with the scattered settlements of the communities Filzbach and fruit Alden in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. The road over the Kerenzerberg forms a historic pass crossing, an actual Talpass between Mollis and mill horn on 743 m height.

This road course existed until 1964, when the first continuous carriage road for cars in the steep rock walls of the Kerenzerberg was driven on the shore of Lake Walen between Weesen and mill horn. This road forms, after further expansion in 1986 today the A3 motorway towards Weesen, while the lanes were moved in the opposite direction in the long Kerenzertunnel.

The double track railway tunnel in the main axis Zurich -Chur was created in 1960 and replaced the started already in 1859, 4 shorter tunnels of the old, also leading single-track along the lake. From this route again a bicycle route, thus the need for a pass crossing no longer exists for bicycles and only vehicles which are not allowed on the highway, must go over the Kerenzerberg arose.
