Lambrey

Lambrey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lambrey situated at an altitude of 245 m above sea level, 7 km south of Jussey and about 23 km northwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the north- west of the department, in the gently undulating landscape of the plateau of Combeaufontaine west of the Saône.

The area of ​​6.08 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the plateau west of the Saônetals. The central part of the area is occupied by a plateau, which is on average 250 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. It is bounded on the west by the hollow of the Ruisseau du Bas des Veaux and its tributary Ruisseau de Coquilley. The eastern boundary runs in the valley of the Ruisseau de Regeux. These streams drain the area to the north of the Ougeotte Saône. To the south the plateau rises slightly. In the Bois des Vosgiens is 295 m reaches the highest point of Lambrey. The area around Lambrey consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the lower Jurassic period.

Neighboring communities of Lambrey are Gevigney -et- Mercey in the north, Aboncourt - Gesincourt in the east, the south and Arbecey Augicourt in the West.

History

Remains from the Gallo- Roman period indicate an early settlement of the area. The fief Lambrey is first mentioned in records in 1302. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had initially served as masters of Morey before they went in 1374 to the Vergy family. Together with the Franche -Comté Lambrey came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Lambrey is the administrative seat of the comprehensive eight villages municipal association Communauté de communes of Vertes Valleys.

Attractions

The village church of Saint- Quentin in 1903 rebuilt. The municipal area there are five Calvaire, the oldest of which is dated to the year 1620. The former manor house, originally built in 1400 and altered in the 16th century, now houses a farm.

Population

With 89 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Lambrey one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 220 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Lambrey is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Gésincourt after Augicourt. Further road links exist with Arbecey and Mercey.
