Medborgarplatsen metro station

Medborgarplatsen is an underground station of the Stockholm Metro, which is located below the eponymous square, close to the shopping street Gotgatan. It is located in the Södermalm district. The station is served by the Gröna linjen the Stockholm subway system. The central location in the city center makes it one of the most frequented stations of the metro network. On a normal working day 20,000 commuters to climb here.

The station was opened on October 1, 1933 under the name Södra Bantorget ( Southern Railway Square), as the tram line was laid from Skanstull after Slussen in the newly built tunnel, put into operation. Got its name, the station in 1944. Underground railway operations carried out on 1 October 1950, when the first Stockholm metro section was inaugurated between Slussen Hökarängen. The platforms are about 6-18 feet below the ground. The station is located between the stations Skanstull and Slussen. Stockholm Central Station is about two kilometers. There is transit traffic to Pendeltåg at the station of Stockholm södra, this is just a few minutes walk.
