Oktyabrsky, Arkhangelsk Oblast

Oktyabrsky (Russian Октябрьский ) is an urban-type settlement in North West Russia. It belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 9307 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

Oktyabrsky lies on the left bank of the Ustja, a right tributary of the Waga. The settlement is located about 405 kilometers south of the Oblasthauptstadt Arkhangelsk. The nearest town is about 55 kilometers west location Velsk.

The settlement is the administrative center of Rajons Ustja.

History

Oktyabrsky was founded in 1950 and received in 1958 the status of an urban-type settlement.
