The Olympus E-330 is a digital SLR that is constructed in accordance with the Four Thirds standard. It was introduced in January 2006, the broad market introduction of the following April.

The Olympus E-330 is the world's first digital SLR ( DSLR) cameras on the market that allows the use of interchangeable lenses, offering a continuous Live View display on the rear camera display.

This is realized either by a secondary sensor in place of the ground glass in the through-the -lens viewfinder or on a lateral swinging away of the mirror with the primary sensor. The optical viewfinder is designed as a compact porro - mirror viewfinder.

The image sensor in the " Four Thirds " format ( 17.3 × 13.0 mm) net provides about 7.5 million pixels. The used in the Olympus E -330 MOS technology is compared to CCD sensors require less energy and easier internal driving electronics, which should provide for an enlarged photosensitive area per sensor element and thus a more favorable noise performance.
