Partschins

Partschins (Italian: Parcines ) is a municipality in South Tyrol (Italy ) with 3581 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

It is geographically located in the Val Venosta, near Meran at the foot of the Texel Group. Politically, the community, however, the district Burggrafenamt is a member. Economically significant are mainly tourism and fruit ( apples).

To Partschins includes the fractions Rabland and Töll. Partschins is a resort with one of the biggest differences in altitude in Val Venosta: The municipality extends from in the valley Rabland ( 525 m asl ) to the Roteck ( 3337 m asl ) in the Texel Group.

History

Partschins belonged to the end of the First World War to the jurisdiction Merano and was part of the district of Merano.

On August 2, 2011, there came above the village at about 1700 meters altitude in the field of Longahr to a rock fall, in which 80,000 cubic meters of material fell into the valley. The access road to the Greiterhof has since spilled.

Attractions

Worth seeing are among others the old village center, the late-Gothic parish church of St. Peter and Paul, the Stachlburg from the 13th century (today Schlossweingut ), the Waal and the Partschinser Partschinser waterfall. In the village there is also a Typewriter Museum was opened in 1998, dedicated to Peter Mitterhofer, the inventor of the typewriter, who was born in Partschins.

In Rabland the largest model railway in South Tyrol was opened on 30 June 2009.

Hiking

A special experience for walkers are the whales: a sophisticated irrigation system centuries ago, which summarizes the water and transported over long distances. Underground piping systems have replaced the irrigation by irrigation canals, but some are still in operation today. Along the Sonnenberg finds a Waalnetz, which extends to the upper Vinschgau. For maintenance of irrigation channels, there are narrow paths, which established itself as a popular hiking trails. The Featured Partschinser irrigation channel leads from the village to Partschinser waterfall. In addition, there still an irrigation channel in Rabland, which also features a Waalschelle. Both whales perform open water. Partschins is the gateway to the natural park of the Texel Group.

Partschinser waterfall

The Partschinser waterfall, about an hour's walk from the village center, is one of the most impressive in the Alps. The drop height is 97 m. At the time of spring thaw or heavy rains the waterfall 4000-10000 liters per second can result. To enjoy the spectacle of nature at first hand, leads a well-secured web through to the jump point of the waterfall.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a silver diagonal right up Asked natural ploughshare ( venture ). The noble family Götsch descended from the Knight Randolf Partschin. The coat of arms of the Knights Partschin existed since 1220 and is since July 25, 1967 is also the coat of arms of the municipality Partschins.

Club Life

There are numerous sports clubs in Partschins. The offer includes soccer, tennis, volleyball, bowling, skiing and ice skating. Also a volunteer fire department there.
