Pelousey

Pelousey is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pelousey is located at 240 m, 9 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the valley of Noue in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and in the north Ognon.

The area of ​​6.18 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Noue. These flows west and discharges below the village in the Lanterne, which supplies their water the Ognon. History

Is first mentioned Pelousey in 1153 under the name Polosel. Its name originates from the Celtic and means something like wild plum. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Martin is originally from the 12th century but was extensively restored and remodeled several times, so that its present form dates back to a reconstruction from 1757 to 1760 in the course of time.
