Petrovice (Blansko District)

Petro Vice ( German Petrowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. The place is located in the Moravian Karst, 4.5 km east of Rájec- Jestřebí and belongs to the Okres Blansko on.

Together with the northern neighboring town of Zdar is Petrovice in about 500 meters high on a plateau. South of the village, the mountains Kněží hora ( 585 m) and Šípová rise ( 548 m).

500 m south of the village stands on the slope of Kněží hora a stone tower mill dating from 1848. According to its modernization in 1922 it was operated until 1964 and was rebuilt in the 1970s to the hotel. Currently it is used as a boarding house and restaurant.

History

For the first time the village has been mentioned 1208. A fortress that stood here was in 1406 by Vok III. burned by Holstein. The St. Peter and Paul's Church was built in 1733 on the site of an earlier building. 1804, the church was repaired.
