Velenov

Velenov ( German Wellenau, formerly Wellenow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers east of Boskovice and belongs to Okres Blansko.

Geography

Velenov located in Drahany country on a knoll overlooking the valleys of streams Velenovský creek and Orlový creek. To the west rises the Přibitá ( 682 m). The village is located - surrounded by forests - a large clearing. To the north- west is the dam Boskovice. Southeast is the medieval deserted village Jabloňsko.

Neighboring towns are Okrouhlá in the north, Benešov and Pavlov in the northeast, Suchy in the east, Žďárná the southeast, Ludíkov and Valchov in the south, Ledková Huť and Újezd ​​u Boskovic in the southwest, Pod Borim, Boskovice, Hrádkov and Šmelcovna in the west and Vratíkov, Vážany and Melkov in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village took place on July 6, 1378 in a deed of Ulrich von Boskowitz to Cerna Hora, of the St. John Minoritenkloster in Brno presented annually 50 pounds Moravian dime out Velenov for his salvation. In 1547 Velenov has been connected to the rule Boskovice. 1791 originated in Velenov a village school. Until the mid-19th century Velenov remained subservient always to Boskovice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Velenov formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Boskovice. The new school building was inaugurated in 1876. In 1906 the municipality has a public water supply, which took place on wood lines. The volunteer fire department was founded in 1922; they built 1929-1933, a fire station. In 1928 the congregation was a member of the Středomoravského lesního družstva founded in the same year (Central Moravian forestry cooperative ). With the beginning of 1961 Velenov was assigned to the Okres Blansko. 1976 ended the lesson in Velenov and the children were retrained to Boskovice. In the same year the annexation took place after Valchov and 1986 together with it to Boskovice. In 1993, the municipality Velenov arose again. 1995 Velenov renewed its membership in the Středomoravského lesního družstva; In 2008, the municipality sold its two co-operative shares and retired. In 2006 the congregation purchased the half of the swimming lake Suchy Suchy at rybnik.
