Pickens County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Pickens.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern South Carolina, is bordered to the north by North Carolina and has an area of ​​1326 square kilometers, of which 39 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Transylvania County ( North Carolina), Greenville County, Anderson County and Oconee County.

History

Pickens County was formed in 1826. It was named after Andrew Pickens, a military leader in the American Revolutionary War and a member of the Congress of the United States.
