Transylvania County, North Carolina

Transylvania County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Brevard, which was Ephraim Brevard, a teacher and surgeon named.

Geography

The County is located in western North Carolina, on the south by South Carolina and has an area of 986 square kilometers, of which 6 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Henderson County, Jackson County and Haywood County.

Transylvania County is divided into nine townships: Boyd, Brevard, Catheys Creek, Dunns Rock Eastatoe, Gloucester, Hogback, Rosman and Little River.

History

Transylvania County was formed in 1861 from parts of Henderson County and Jackson County.
