Perquimans County, North Carolina

Perquimans County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hertford, which was named after the English town of Hertford.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern North Carolina, is located in the north about 30 miles from Virginia and has an area of 852 square kilometers, of which 212 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Pasquotank County, Chowan County and Gates County.

History

Perquimans County was formed in 1672. It was named after an Indian tribe.
