Davie County, North Carolina

Davie County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mocksville. which was named after the family mock that donated the land for the city.

Geography

The County is located in west-central North Carolina, is located in the north about 80 miles from Virginia and has an area of 691 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Yadkin County, Forsyth County, Davidson County, Rowan County and Iredell County.

Davie County is divided into seven townships: Calahaln, Clarksville, Farmington, Fulton, Jerusalem, Mocksville and Shady Grove.

History

Davie County was formed in 1836 from parts of Rowan County. It was named after Governor William R. Davie.
