Ratnovce

Ratnovce (Hungarian Ratnóc ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1020 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Piešťany, part of Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located on the left bank of the Vah below the western slope of Považský Inovec. A portion of the reservoir Sĺňava covers the municipality. The center is located at an altitude of 156 m nm and is four kilometers away from Piešťany.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1240 as Ratun writing and belonged to the dominion of the castle Neutra. After the Nitransky Chapter 1520 exchanged the place for goods in the church today Tekovské Lužany, the village had several rulers like Amade, Brunswick and Erdődy. In a directory of 1571-73 the village, including the surrounding towns paid 150 florins to the archbishopric of Gran 1828 are 59 houses and 404 inhabitants recorded.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Neutra place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia and Slovakia today.

The community lives as in the past, mainly from agriculture, until the late modern age viticulture was significant, further Müller and stonemasons were present.
