Richel

Richel is the name of a sand bank in the Wadden Sea, about 1 km east of the northernmost point of the island of Vlieland. The sand bank is part of the eponymous Dutch municipality of Vlieland.

Richel is no growth substantially. It is partly covered by beach - couch grass ( Elytrigia juncea subsp. Boreoatlantica ). The island is an important breeding area for the sand plover (Charadrius hiaticula ), the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus ) and the Little Tern (Sterna albifrons ), which occur in varying amounts. In addition, Richel is the most important resting area for gray seals in the Wadden Sea.
