Royal Trophy
The Royal Trophy is an association founded in 2006, team competition between male professional golfers from Asia and Europe along the lines of the famous Ryder Cup. The sixteen -pound trophy made of solid silver, was donated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, on the occasion of his 60th jubilee.
History
The first meeting took place on 7 and 8 January 2006 at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok instead and ended with a 9-7 victory in Europe. The teams were led by the captains Masahiro Kuramoto (Asia) and Seve Ballesteros (Europe).
In January 2007 the Royal Trophy was held at the same place, with Europe having 12 ½: 3 ½ points was successful. In 2008, the event was canceled due to the national mourning for the deceased sister of the Thai king, Galyani Vadhana.
In January 2009, for the first time won Asia with 10:6 points.
Mode
The two teams each consisting of eight members and a captain (Non- Playing Captain ). Six players qualify on money list and World Golf Rankings, two players can be selected by the captain ( Captain 's Picks ). On the first day (Saturday) be four in the morning foursomes ( one ball per double, alternately played) and four in the afternoon Four Balls ( everyone plays his ball, the better result of the duplex is considered ). On the second day (Sunday) the eight individual matches will take place.

Asia won the jump-off at first extra hole.
