Salem, Schleswig-Holstein

Salem is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. It is located about seven kilometers from the district town of Ratzeburg in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. Bresahn and Dargow lie in the municipality.

History

Its history dates back to the Knights of Salem, were among the most prominent vassals of 1154 created county Ratzeburg. On behalf of their lords they founded several villages, warped in the 14th century but to Mecklenburg. In the Middle Ages the castle was Mügge here on the western edge of today's nature reserve Salem Moor with the village of Klein- Salem, which was already mentioned in Ratzeburg tithe register of 1230. Leisure

Since 1995, the first FC Salem, is played in football. However, the team does not participate in regular operation of the local county football association.
