Gudow

Gudow is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography

Gudow is situated in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park right on the lake and Gudower on the Mecklenburg border. The municipality consists of the main town Gudow well as the places Kehrsen, Segrahn, Sophienthal and Aussiedlerhof Bannau.

History

The village is mentioned in records in Isfriedschen sharing agreement in 1194 for the first time. It was Kirchdorf and belonged to the diocese of Ratzeburg whole church, but was divided between the secular Count of Ratzeburg and the Bishopric of the same name, the secular dominion of the prince-bishops. Vassal of the Prince-Bishop Gottschalk was in Gudow evidenced by the data in Ratzeburg tithe register of 1230 Theodoricus lupus, so a knight of the family of Wulf in Schwarzenbek. Attractions

In the list of cultural monuments in Gudow are registered in the list of monuments of Schleswig- Holstein cultural monuments.

The village church of St. Mary, one dating from the 13th century stone church, holds a " Madonna on the full moon ", which was created in 1430 in Lübeck, and among other interesting features pieces a Coronation of the Virgin altarpiece, which was created in 1400 for the Lüne and 1655 the church was founded. It was the altar, originally a winged altar, cut up and received in 1680 a framework in cartilage style. 2011, the altar was restored.

The neoclassical mansion was built in 1826 by Danish architect Joseph Christian Lillie for the family von Bülow.
