Sarnow

Sarnow is a municipality south of Anklam. The community is managed by the Office Anklam country located in the municipality Spantekow. Until 1 January 2005, the village belonged to the Official Spantekow.

Geography and transport

Sarnow is on the main road 197 The city of Anklam is located about 13 km north of the community. The Federal Highway 20 can be reached via the connections Neubrandenburg -Nord ( about 24 km) and Friedland / Golm. The municipality is situated on the Peene- south canal.

History

Panschow 1403 was first mentioned as " Pantzkow " documentary.

Sarnow 1235 mentioned as " Szarua " was first documented. This means in Slavic " Black " or " deer ".

The district Wusseken was first documented in the year 1243, Sarnow himself in 1267. Both places are of Slavic origin.

This place is a former forester's homestead. This one-storey forest house was about 150 years ago by Baron Ernst von Schimmelmann, forester of the Counts of Schwerin, father of the Countess Ida von Schwerin, probably built for her as a retirement home, hence the name before. The house was inhabited but by the forest masters of the counts. The place was mostly called " Wendfeld ".
