Shiribeshi Province

Shiribeshi (后 志 国, Shiribeshi no kuni ) was a short historical province of Japan in the area of ​​present-day Hokkaidō Prefecture. It corresponded to the current sub-prefecture Shiribeshi (without county Abuta ) and the northern part of the sub-prefecture Hiyama.

History

The province was established with the other provinces of Hokkaido on August 15, 1869 17 districts. The census of 1872 counts 19098 inhabitants ( Japanese, without the indigenous Ainu ), in 1882 the provinces in Hokkaido will be replaced by the prefecture system.
