Snowbirds

The Snowbirds ( officially: 431 Air Demonstration Squadron ) are the aerobatic team of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The Snowbirds are a symbol of Canada.

History

The 431 was originally a formation of bombers that flew in Europe during World War II. On January 18, 1954 Hunter Season was founded under the number that showed aerobatics on the Canadair F -86 Sabre until its dissolution in October of the same year. On April 1, 1978, the 431st was reactivated and now bears the nickname Snowbirds. Since then, the squadron has been flying CL -114 Tutor on nine Canadair. Today, about 85 people in the Canadian Forces operate at the Snowbirds, who are stationed at the military airfield of Moose Jaw.

During her career several aircraft the squadron accidents, five pilots had died there.
