Suchá nad Parnou

Sucha nad Parnou ( until 1927 slovak " Sucha "; Dürnbach German, Hungarian Szárazpatak - to 1888 Szuha ) a municipality in western Slovakia, with 1943 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trnava Region of a lower part of the Trnavský.

Geography

Sucha nad Parnou is located in the Slovak Danube lowland, lower part Trnavská pahorkatina ( Trnava hills ) on the stream Parna, at the confluence with the stream Podhajský creek, which is stowed above the town in the small reservoir Sucha. The village center is eight kilometers from Trnava.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1251 as part of the manor of Castle Red Stone writing. The parish is to have developed during this period. In the 14th century vineyards of Trnava citizens are known. In the 16th century there was an influx of Croatian settlers; In 1663 the town was sacked by the Turks.

Until shortly after the Second World War, a Renaissance country castle was the center of Sucha nad Parnou. This was demolished in 1952, but on its site built a school building.
