Šúrovce

Šúrovce ( Schur German, Hungarian Súr ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 2280 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trnava Region of a lower part of the Trnavský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Danube hills (part of the Slovak Danube lowland ) on the right bank of the Vah and close to the Dudváh, with part of its territory on the left bank of Waag. The center is located at an altitude of 131 m nm and is located six kilometers from Sered and 13 km from Trnava.

Administratively divided the community into districts Šúrovce and Varov Šúr.

History

Today's church was built in 1944 by the merger of places Veľké Šúrovce ( German United Chur) and Zemianske Šúrovce. 1955 Valtov Šúr was incorporated in 1973 Varov Šúr.

The individual locations were mentioned in writing for the first time in 1241 ( Veľké Šúrovce ), 1256 ( Zemianske Šúrovce ), 1423 ( Varov Šúr ) and 1426 ( Valtov Šúr ). 1430 occurred in place a battle between the army of Sigismund of Luxembourg and the Hussites. The places were among rule of goods Freistadtl, Schintau and Lanschütz; a major landowner was, among other things, the noble Esterházy.
