Geography

The place is in front Stubai Valley, the sunny side of the left Ruetz. The municipality lies at an altitude of about 1000 m and has an area of 27.38 square kilometers. The municipal area also includes large parts of the famous hiking and skiing area Schlick.

A public transport connection is made through the Stubai Valley Railway on the route Innsbruck- Fulpmes. The larch forests of the Telfer Wiesen with a stop for Stubaitalbahn are a popular destination.

History

Finds from the Early Bronze Age show of an early settlement of the Telfer area. 1976, a cave was exposed in the region Gallhof during road construction. In about 8 × 2 × 1.5 m wide gap collects sulphate-containing dripping water, which was probably been the cause of a Latène source sanctuary. In excavations hundred intact bowls and pitchers as well as shards were of twice as many found. 43 Astragali ( beinerne dice ) contributed as well as some of the vessels but inscriptional indecipherable carvings. The finds date from the Mittellatènezeit (4th- 3rd century BC).

The place name derives from an Indo-European root * tellevo, which translates as, usable floor ' means from. First documented in 1133 as the place was Telves. The population of Telfes called Telfer ( not Telfeser '). Reason is the Romansh origin of the place name. This ends with the Latin nominative -s, derivatives are therefore formed without -s.

Here is the seat of the court was for the Stubai Valley, before it was relocated in 1690 after bodice. The metalwork is occupied in documents since 1541. Later still came the production of iron to that promoted the richness of the place. Even today, evidenced by numerous illustrations of iron producers in the old farms of the place of this, the valley auspicious tradition.

Coat Description:

It is the image of the seals Otto Karl Inger, 1327, the Court of the Stubai was awarded, and thus is the first known judge of Stubai.

The coat of arms was granted in 1967.

Center of the municipality is the village of Mieders. It is located about 12 kilometers south of the city center of Innsbruck, 3 ½ miles into the valley in the Stubai Valley. It is located on the 990 m above sea level. A. Height sunny side left the Ruetz, at the confluence of the Griesbach at the foot of Nederjochs ( 2142 m above sea level. A. ).

Economy and infrastructure

The community is accessible via the Stubai Valley Road ( B183 ), which happens on the other side of the valley at bodice.

Through the village the Stubaitalbahn (STB ), which here in the municipal area the stations Telfer Wiesen ( request stop ), and Luimes Telfes and the stop tennis camp runs just before the terminal has Fulpmes. The place is well connected by the bus line Stubai ( line ST ), where within this line only course Telfes a pendulum - Fulpmes Neustift wrong, switch to the courses is to Innsbruck to Fulpmes.

The Raetia Cave is located northeast of Telfes.

Events

Every year in summer in Telfes the Schlickeralmlauf instead. This mountain race got his start in the center and the target is located on the Kreuzjoch (up to 2012 on Sennjoch ). 1990 and 1996 Telfes hosted the Mountain Running World Championships. In 2009, then host the 8th European Mountain Running Championships, an official competition at the European Athletics Association (EAA ). In 2014, the beginning of September, the 14th World Masters Mountain Running Championships and thus making the official Mountain Running World Championships for seniors in Telfes.
