The Answers is the debut album by the band Blue October, that was recorded in October 1997 in the Sound Art Studios in Houston / Texas and published under Rodan Entertainment / Scoop 1998. It is the only album where founding member Liz Mullally played piano. Shortly after the album's release, she left the band. Due to the contractual agreement with Universal Records, it was the band does not allow album for sale on their website or at concerts. It could only be ordered with Rodan Entertainment before it was agreed in 2005 to sell the album elsewhere also. The album was re-released in 2008 by Universal Records. Producer was Brian Baker. Most of the songs contain themes depression, with the song Black Orchid also sings the theme of suicide. The cover is a painting of the singer Justin Furstenfeld, which he had painted during his stay in a clinical psychological clinic. Another of his crafted image became the cover of 2003's album History for Sale.
