Uasin Gishu County

Uasin Gishu County ( Uasin Gishu District until 2010 ) is a county in the Kenyan Rift Valley Province. The capital of the county is Eldoret. In County 2009 894.179 people lived on 2955.3 km ². The County is located 1500-2700 m above sea level. The people live mainly on livestock (dairy and beef cattle ) and agriculture. Is grown mainly maize, wheat and potatoes, but also soybeans, millet, finger millet and cassava.

Structure

The county is divided into councils and divisions. There are three electoral districts, Eldoret East, Eldoret Eldoret North and South.
