Vernon County (Missouri)
The Vernon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 21,159 inhabitants and a population density of 9.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Nevada.
Geography
The County is located in southwest Missouri and is bordered to the west by Kansas. It is bordered in the northeast by the Osage River and has an area of 2168 square kilometers, of which 8 square miles is water area. At the Vernon County borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Vernon County was formed in 1851. It was named after Colonel Miles Vernon, a later U.S. Senator.
