Henry County (Missouri)

The Henry County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 22,272 inhabitants and a population density of 12.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Clinton, which was named after the New York Governor DeWitt Clinton.

Geography

The County is located in western Missouri in the northwestern Ozarks and is about 50 miles from Kansas away. It has an area of 1897 square kilometers, of which 78 square kilometers are water surface. The county is drained by the Osage River, which was dammed here for the Harry S. Truman Reservoir. At the Henry County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Henry County was formed on 1834 as Rives County, named after William Cabell Rives, a U.S. Senator from Virginia. After his move to the Whig Party, he lost his popularity and the County was renamed in Henry County, named after it was Patrick Henry, an American patriot from Virginia.
