1949 Thomas Cup

The first edition of the Thomas Cup, the world championship for men's teams in badminton, 1949 took place. Originally, the first edition in 1941 was planned, but realized by the chaos of war until 1949. Winner, the team of Malaya, which the U.S. and in the final in Preston defeated Denmark in the semifinals was in Glasgow. The final two rounds, the Malaysian team with Chan Kon Leong, Law Teik Hock, Yeoh Teck Chye, Teoh Seng Khoon, Ooi Teik Hock, Wong Peng Soon, Lim Kee Fong, Ong Poh Lim and the nichtspielendem Captain Lim Chuan Geok was in December 1948 started at a 25-day cruise in the United Kingdom, where the Malays were first confronted with a European winter.
