1963–64 Turkish Second Football League

The second Türkiye Futbol Ligi 1963/64, was the first season the second highest in the Turkish league professional men's soccer. She was started on 5 September 1963, the first game day and completed on 18 April 1964, the 24th and final day.

In the season 1963/64, the league was founded as a single-track league with 13 teams. The main reason for the league was founded: In summer 1959, the first nationwide discharged professional league in Turkish football, the Milli Lig was the Süper Lig introduced with its present name. In the first five seasons of the league, the picture that only participating teams from the three major cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir at the game and the remaining provinces of Turkey stayed away from the League revealed. Only Adana Demirspor from the fourth largest city of Adana made ​​it in the summer of 1960 in the Milli Lig, but already rose after a season again. Following these developments, the Turkish Football Federation decided to start early 1960s a project, which could participate in the professional football happening all provinces of Turkey. To this end, all the provinces were informed nation's governors and notables that, if not present, could, by the creation of a competitive soccer club, their province in this league. Thus within a few years new clubs were founded and requested to participate in this league. So was the second- highest division, the second Türkiye Futbol Ligi, started with the season 1963/64, the first time. Since the founding provinces of the club, the fulfillment of the requirements or participation at different rates applied, the league was played with teams mainly from the four largest cities of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Adana again in their first seasons. Only with Çukurova İdman Yurdu and Bursaspor participated two teams from other provinces in the game.

At the beginning of the season were the two relegated from the 1st Lig Karagümrük SK, Şekerspor, the eleven newcomers Adana Demirspor, Beylerbeyi SK, Vefa SK, Çukurova İdman Yurdu, Ülküspor, Sariyer GK, Bursaspor, Yeşildirek SK, Ankara Güneşspor, Altındağspor and İzmir Demirspor been added. The newcomers were either taken from the then third-rate regional amateur leagues as a master or had met the requirements of the Turkish Football Federation and were allowed to participate in the newly created league.

Şekerspor reached the championship of the second Lig and thus the direct promotion back to the 1st ligament

At the start of the season the club changed Şeker Spor Kulübü Hilal, short Şeker Hilal SK, his club name in Şekerspor Kulübü, short Şekerspor to. As Table Izmir Demirspor descended from the League and became the first relegated to the second ligament
