1970 World Series of Poker

1970 was the first year in which took place the World Series of Poker. In contrast to the following WSOP events that were decided by a freeze -out tournament, the winner was chosen in 1970 by a vote. Jack Binion invited seven America's best poker player in his Binion 's Horseshoe in Las Vegas to decide who was America's best poker player. Johnny Moss was chosen by Thomas " Amarillo Slim" Preston, Brian "Sailor" Roberts, Doyle " Texas Dolly" Brunson, Walter " Puggy " Pearson, Crandall Addington and Carl Cannon at the best poker player in the world. He was awarded a silver cup.

After a dubious legend, it took two votes to determine the best players in the world. In the first vote, all players should the best poker player in the world and everyone agreed choose for themselves. In the second vote, however, was asked about the second best player and Moss won the vote.
