Background
During the four week break between the Grand Prix of South Africa and the next world championship race in Spain James Hunt had the professional world with a victory in the World Cup not to be counted BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone surprised.
In addition to the usual in the season so far participants two new teams were registered for the Spanish Grand Prix. Firstly, this was Chris Amon, who first took up with vehicles under the team name Chris Amon Racing and the other is the Trojan team that was created with the assistance of Ron Tauranac and has been reported with Tim Give as a driver. Tyrrell reported for the first time a copy of the new model 007 for Jody Scheckter.

Training

His teammate Peterson was forced to retire due to technical problems, so you had recorded the second total loss in a row at Team Lotus.
As a result, led Niki Lauda before Clay Regazzoni, Hans -Joachim Stuck and Arturo Merzario. This crashed hard in the 38th round, where he landed with his car beyond the barriers immediately adjacent to a group of photographers. Only by luck no one was there to harm.
Six laps before the scheduled end of the race was stopped after two hours. Niki Lauda scored his first Grand Prix victory, which was upgraded by Clay Regazzoni in a Ferrari one-two.
