1983 World Badminton Grand Prix
The final of the World Badminton Grand Prix 1983 was held from December 14 to 18 in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, instead. It was the final competition of the Grand Prix series last season and the first edition of the World Badminton Grand Prix ever. The prize money was U.S. $ 70,000. In the first three events of the WBGP 1983-1985 only the men's singles and women's singles were played in contrast to the later tournaments. As of 1987, the three double disciplines men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles were added.
