1988–89 French Rugby Union Championship

The 1988/89 season was the 90th staging of the French rugby union championship. It included 32 teams in the top league ( of today's top 14).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group phase in which eight teams played in four groups against each other. The four winners of each group (a total of 16 teams ) made it to the K - o.Runde. This was followed by eighth note, quarter and semi-finals. In the final game, which took place in Paris on 27 May 1989 at the Parc des Princes, came together the two semi-final winners and played for the Bouclier de Brennus. Here, Stade Toulousain prevailed against RC Toulon and won for the tenth time the championship.
