1989–90 Bundesliga
First in the 1989/90 season of the German Bundesliga and thus German master of men was the FC Bayern Munich.
Season overview
As in the previous season won Bayern Munich before 1 FC Cologne the championship. Again, the title has already been decided at an early stage; with two games left in the season, the Munich had five points clear. For Eintracht Frankfurt it was the best season since 1977. They won, inter alia, in Cologne with 5-3.
Memorable was the deciding game to the descent: the two teams finish equal on points Bayer 05 Uerdingen and Borussia Moenchengladbach clashed on the final day, were both two points clear of the relegation places and each needed a point to avoid relegation. The game was extremely uneventful and ended 0-0. VfL Bochum therefore had the relegation play to remain in the league.
For the first time with the Norwegian Jørn Andersen a foreign player scorer.
